The San José State University Family Advisory Board (FAB) is composed of dedicated parents and guardians who partner with the University to strengthen student success through informed, engaged family support.
Research and lived experience consistently show that students thrive when their families understand campus resources, academic milestones, and moments of transition. FAB helps bridge that gap by supporting initiatives that reduce financial barriers to participation in key student-success programs and experiences.
Funds raised through the 1857 Minutes of Giving will be directed exclusively toward student-facing financial support, including assistance that enables students and their families to access critical orientation programs, transition resources, and engagement opportunities that foster belonging, persistence, and academic success.
By investing in students through family-connected support, donors help ensure that more Spartans (first-generation and those navigating college for the first time) are positioned to succeed from enrollment through graduation.
