Who we are
The Staff and Faculty Emergency Fund, also known as SFEF, is a San José State University supported initiative managed by University Personnel and guided by a committee appointed by the Senior Associate Vice President. At its core, the SFEF exists to care for the people who support our campus community every day.
What we are raising money for
We are raising funds to provide emergency financial assistance to SJSU staff and faculty who are experiencing unexpected life events such as medical emergencies, natural disasters, or sudden personal hardships. Through the SFEF, eligible employees may receive a one time grant of up to one thousand dollars to help meet immediate and essential needs. These grants do not need to be repaid.
Why reaching our goal matters
When the unexpected happens, even a modest amount of support can bring relief and stability during an incredibly stressful time. For our colleagues, an SFEF grant can help cover basic necessities, reduce immediate financial strain, and provide peace of mind while they focus on healing and recovery.
The SFEF is made possible through the generosity of caring San José State colleagues and community members. Because funds are limited and not intended to support ongoing or recurring expenses, continued donations are critical to sustaining this program. Your contribution is a powerful expression of care and solidarity, ensuring that when a fellow Spartan faces hardship, they do not face it alone.
