The Teaching Pathways and Field Experience Office is proud to take part in this year’s 1857 Minutes of Giving Campaign, with a focus on investing in the people who make teacher preparation possible: our mentor teachers and the future educators they support.
Mentor teachers are the backbone of our credential programs. They open their classrooms, share their practice, and provide daily guidance that shapes the growth of SJSU teacher candidates. Their commitment directly impacts student success in schools across our region. This campaign allows us to better recognize, support, and sustain their work—while also strengthening pathways into teaching for the next generation.

Building on the momentum of last year’s inaugural campaign, we continue to grow Spartan Future Teachers (SFT), an initiative that supports SJSU undergraduates from all majors who are exploring teaching as a career. Through SFT, students gain access to community events, speaker panels, hands-on learning experiences, and application support that help them move from curiosity to commitment.
Your gift has an immediate and meaningful impact. Donations support mentor teacher incentives and professional engagement, while also funding student-centered programming that introduces undergraduates to teaching and supports them as they prepare to enter credential programs. Together, these investments strengthen teaching pathways—from early exploration to classroom practice.
We invite you to support this work. Join us in uplifting mentor teachers and opening doors for future educators committed to equity, care, and the power of learning. Make a gift during the 1857 Minutes of Giving Campaign and help shape the future of teaching at SJSU.
