The Connie L. Lurie College of Education prepares future teachers, counselors, speech-language pathologists, therapists, and school and community leaders who will serve our communities for generations to come.
But before they can lead classrooms and support students, they must complete required, unpaid internships and student teaching placements. During this time, many are balancing rent, transportation, groceries, and other living expenses —without the ability to earn income.
For some, an unexpected financial hardship can mean the difference between finishing their program or stepping away from their dream.
The Lurie College Hardship Fund exists to ensure that does not happen.

Since July 2019, the College has awarded nearly 300 emergency grants to students facing unforeseen financial crises; covering essentials like gas for internships, rent, and basic living costs. Although the fund was established during the pandemic, the need has not disappeared. In fact, it continues to grow.
Our goal is to raise $18,000 to sustain the Hardship Fund for the year — ensuring we can respond immediately when students need help most. These funds keep future educators enrolled, in their placements, and on track to graduate.
Your gift, of any size, can help keep the door open for a student determined to finish their program and serve their community.

For 1,857 minutes, you can be the reason a future educator crosses the finish line and into the classrooms and communities.
