The mission of the California State University (CSU) is to prepare the regional workforce, strengthen economic vitality, and advance social mobility. At San José State University, right in the heart of Silicon Valley, our Mechanical Engineering (ME) graduates step into one of the most dynamic job markets in the world. In fact, most of our BSME graduates secure a career path within six months of graduation.

Yet, launching a career in Silicon Valley comes with unique challenges. Unlike other regions where large employers hire in bulk, this region thrives on smaller, innovative companies and cutting-edge R&D opportunities, many of which require advanced degrees and/or strong professional networks. For our students, breaking into this world can feel daunting without access to the right connections.

That’s where we come in. The Mechanical Engineering Department is committed to closing this gap by creating networking opportunities with alumni and industry leaders, ensuring our students are prepared to thrive in their careers. With your support, we can bring alumni back to campus, host industry networking events, and expand career-focused programs in collaboration with the SJSU Career Center and Alumni Office.
