The Department of Kinesiology is one of the largest majors at San José State University. Kinesiology is broadly defined as the study of human body movement, encompassing the biophysical, behavioral, and sociocultural aspects. With roughly 1000 undergraduate students and 40 faculty members, the department is a leader in research, education, and practice regarding human movement. Undergraduate students are leaders who have served as important research assistants on faculty-led projects and conducted their own original research for independent study or as part of the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program. The department believes that having undergraduates immersed in research will equip them with the knowledge, practice, and networks to succeed as health advocates in their future professions.

We want to support and supplement student travel costs to academic conferences, workshops, and training with registration fees, airfare, accommodations, and incidentals (meals, tolls, parking). Students attending academic conferences have the opportunity to learn, interact, and network with other researchers and professionals, which ultimately helps them advance their professional journeys. More students are engaging in academic research and with that, we want to ensure they have an enriching experience by attending conferences and other professional workshops.

Your donation, of any amount, makes a huge difference for undergraduate students attending academic conferences as they apply to graduate schools, build relationships, and grow as scholars! We are trying to raise $5,000. Please join us in supporting Kinesiology undergraduates by donating what you can now.
