The English MA program provides students with a broad knowledge of literary history, hones writing and analytical skills, and offers training in both professional literary research and the teaching of writing. Ideally suited for working adults, our program serves a diverse group of students and encourages intellectual exploration. In order to grow our program and subsidize the educational journeys of our deserving students, we are raising money for scholarships for entering MA candidates.
We hope that the possibility of $3000 scholarships will attract more applicants, increase enrollments, and help to ensure the success of our students.

In addition to honing critical thinking and writing skills, our MA program offers a wide range of opportunities for growth and engagement. Students can:
- Help edit Reed Magazine, the oldest literary journal west of the Mississippi
- Earn a certificate in Professional and Technical Writing
- Receive professional training in our Teaching Associate program
- Interact with contemporary authors through the Center for Literary Arts
- Take Creative Writing classes through our department's MFA program
