At San José State University’s College of Science, our students are The Future of Science: innovators, problem-solvers, and leaders in the making. They are ready to change the world, and we want to provide as many opportunities as possible.

For many of our students, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, access to paid research opportunities and advanced scientific tools can mean the difference between staying in science or leaving it behind.

Students supported by this fund are making a real impact. In our biomedical programs, they investigate disease pathways, analyze genetic data, and contribute to the discovery of new therapies. At our Wildfire Interdisciplinary Research Center, students study fire behavior, climate impacts, and community resilience, work that directly informs public safety and environmental policy. Through applied computing programs, our students develop data-driven solutions, artificial intelligence tools, and cybersecurity innovations that address modern technological challenges. And at Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, students conduct hands-on oceanographic research, monitor marine ecosystems, and participate in field expeditions that deepen our understanding of coastal and ocean health.
