The Chicanx/Latinx Student Success Center at San José State University is dedicated to advancing student success through leadership development, community building, and culturally grounded support. We center the strengths, resilience, and lived experiences of Latinx students while welcoming all Spartans to learn, grow, and lead together. The Centro is a space where students build confidence, develop leadership skills, and find the community that helps them persist to graduation.

During 1857 Minutes of Giving, we are raising funds to directly support student retention initiatives, leadership development programs, mentorship opportunities, and community-centered events that strengthen belonging and academic success. Your gift sustains workshops, student leadership training, peer mentoring, and programs that empower students to navigate barriers and thrive at SJSU.
Beyond the classroom, these experiences prepare students to graduate with confidence, cultural pride, and the leadership skills needed to succeed in their careers and communities. Funds will also support our Year-End Celebration, including providing cultural stoles that honor students’ journeys and achievements, ensuring they cross the stage feeling seen, celebrated, and empowered for what comes next.
Our goal matters because access to community, mentorship, and leadership opportunities can be the difference between simply attending college and truly succeeding in it. Every dollar invested expands opportunities for students to stay enrolled, graduate, and emerge as leaders who give back to their families and communities. When you give to the Centro, you are investing in student success that strengthens the entire Spartan community.
