The MPA Student Association (MPASA) supports graduate students pursuing their Master of Public Administration at San José State University – future leaders who will go on to serve the Bay Area and beyond in government, nonprofit organizations, philanthropy, education, and more. Our students are committed to public service, and MPASA exists to ensure they have the community, connections, and opportunities to succeed.
During 1857 Minutes of Giving, we are raising $1,500 to directly invest in MPA students and their personal and professional growth to fund two priorities for the year:
- Community-Building Events:
Your support will help us host gatherings that bring together current students, alumni, faculty, and public administration professionals. These events strengthen relationships across generations of public servants, expand career pathways, and deepen the Bay Area’s public service network. - Professional Development Opportunities:
Funds will allow us to host accomplished public sector leaders and SJSU MPA alumni to share practical insights, career advice, and lessons learned. These sessions provide students with direct access to mentorship, inspiration, and real-world guidance as they prepare for impactful careers.

This campaign will ensure we can provide consistent, high-quality opportunities for connection and growth. This campaign is critical to MPASA’s ability to support students as they succeed in their degree programs, build lasting professional networks, and launch meaningful careers serving our communities.
