Send SJSU Future Music Teachers to CASMEC

We are SJSU's chapter of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), a group of music education majors getting ready to lead music classrooms of our own. This January, we hope to attend the California All-State Music Education Conference (CASMEC), where student musicians meet working educators from across the state.

At CASMEC, we learn from teachers at every stage of their careers. Sessions cover inclusive teaching, rehearsal strategies, conducting and arts advocacy, the practical tools we will bring into our own rehearsal rooms. Hearing from these educators helps each of us shape our own teaching philosophy.

Being a music education major can feel overwhelming. CASMEC reminds us that we are part of a larger community that is there to support us. Going as a group means we can reflect on what we learn together and bring those ideas back to SJSU, while proudly representing our university's music program at the state level.

Your gift covers the two biggest costs of attending. About 80 percent goes to lodging and the rest to conference registration. Lowering those costs makes CASMEC possible for more SJSU students.

Our goal is $2,000, and our stretch goal is $2,487, which would help even more of our members attend. Give by December 1!
