Our Rubik's Cube Club started just last semester, founded by students who love speedcubing and the people it brings together. Many of our members have competed at events around the country, yet SJSU has never hosted a competition of its own.
We want to change that. The South Bay has fewer local, reachable competitions than the rest of the Bay Area, so we are planning the university's first official Rubik's Cube competition, right here on campus, for SJSU students and cubers from the surrounding community.
A new club doesn't have the resources for an event like this yet. About 70% of what we raise will cover the venue and 30% will buy equipment such as timers, displays, cubes, and mats, which the club will also use for practice. Your gift helps us run an organized event while keeping it affordable for students and the community.
The speedcubing community is a tight-knit group of people who care about and lift each other up. This event will welcome cubers of every experience level and give our members a chance to show what student leadership looks like.
Our goal is $1,500 and our stretch goal is $2,000. Reaching our goal lets us host SJSU's first competition and lay the foundation for more on campus. Give by December 1!
