Help SJSU SASE Students Build Real-World Projects

This year, 25 SJSU students in our Kickstarter program are working to turn an idea into a real product or service. They form teams of up to five, each paired with an industry mentor, and spend the academic year designing, building and improving a project around the year's theme.

The Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) at SJSU launched Kickstarter in 2021 to give students a place to apply what they learn beyond the classroom. Teams are multidisciplinary, and the program is open to every class year, whether a student is just starting at SJSU or preparing to graduate. At the end of the year, each team presents its finished project to a panel of judges.

Along the way, students build teamwork and problem-solving skills, and they come away with a project they can talk about in internship and job interviews. The hardest part is often cost. Materials and supplies for building and testing can limit what a team is able to try, or come out of students' own pockets.

Your gift helps cover project materials for all 25 students. Our goal is $1,000, and our stretch goal is $1,500, which would cover more of the materials students need to design, build, test and improve their projects. Help our students turn their ideas into something real. Give by December 1!
