Our 26-person student leadership board shares a love of South Asian culture, dance, and event planning. Since April 2026, we have been building SJ Saiyaara, SJSU's Bollywood fusion collegiate dance competition, to give students a Bay Area stage where they can celebrate their culture and share their talent.
On March 6, 2027, our inaugural competition comes to Mexican Heritage Plaza in San José. 12 collegiate dance teams and more than 250 dancers will take the stage.
As a student-run organization, we are building this event from the ground up. Your gift helps cover the venue, production, hospitality, catering, and organized transportation for visiting dancers. It also helps keep participation affordable. On the South Asian collegiate dance circuit, roster fees can climb quickly when funding falls short, and we don't want cost to keep anyone off the stage.
Our goal is $5,000, and our stretch goal is $15,000, which brings us closer to producing a professional competition that stays affordable for dancers.
Help us launch a South Asian cultural tradition at SJSU that future student leaders can keep growing. Give by December 1!
