Help SJSU Students Film Steinbeck's Chrysanthemums

At Spartan Film Studios, SJSU students learn filmmaking by making films, side by side with working industry professionals. Our next production is The Chrysanthemums, an adaptation of John Steinbeck's celebrated short story, made in collaboration with the Martha Heasley Cox Center for Steinbeck Studies.

We have done this before. Our previous Steinbeck adaptation, Breakfast, brought students and experienced filmmakers together to make a completed short film. Students worked on a real production and learned directly from professionals in the fields they hope to join. Now we are ready to do it again, on a larger scale.

Students will work under professional supervision in departments such as directing, cinematography, lighting, sound and postproduction. They will graduate with real production credits and professional connections they can carry into their careers.
